"Disability is not inability"

Between the years 2006 – 2011, Bake For Life Holland a foundation that works in partnership with the Little Sisters of St. Francis in empowering the marginalized through baking has sponsored five bakeries in Uganda and one in Kenya. Three are located in Eastern Region of Uganda namely; Soroti, Tororo and Budaka. The other two are located in the Central Region(Nkokonjeru) and Bungoma Kenya respectively. Four of these establishments are in institutions of rehabilitation and empowerment of physically challenged persons, orphans, single mothers, school dropouts, victims of war among others. The clients, residents and beneficiaries of these institutions learn baking skills among other skills in life and eventually get employment from Bake For Life founded bakeries or any other bakery. They are empowered with skills, a job hence enabled to earn a living and realize their God given human dignity. The bakeries through Bake For Life Limited has a mission of being the leading provider of high quality bakery products and services as they globally impart skills to the marginalized of society, creating employment opportunities, offering holistic growth and development in all aspects while ensuring financial sustainability. With all these establishments, and the ever growing demand for bread and confectioneries in Uganda, the Little Sisters realized the need for knowledgeable and skilled bakers. Bake for Life Holland with generous support from Hanzehogeschool, Groningen in Holland came to the assistance of the Little Sisters and the people of Uganda and together began the long process of establishing Bake for Life College. The whole process from the dream to its realization has taken three years.
